The Paintings

Works that decline in successive variations, like a wall to be crossed, the dominance of a single color: red, blue, black, brown. Almost monochromatic backgrounds that fix the starting point in which to immerse yourself to establish or find an initial emotional resonance and prepare yourself, in the calm or in the wave of that predominant hue, for the journey. At that point, it is impossible to stop, because immediately the painting of Stephanie Morin pulls you beyond; each painting like a window that overlooks a panorama of other windows, openings, slits, shadows. The suggestion is too strong not to be trapped and thus find yourself floating in that artificial and enchanted space. Never truly abstract, despite the renunciation of figurative references, because it is made of sensations that now immerse you in a magma, now liquefy into a more ethereal mixture, now reflect you in the gravelly consistency of a clump of earth and quartz.
